Story of the creation
This tablecloth was designed to cover a coffee table (especially to hide the defects of the wood). I mainly did it to empty my stash of Royal (100% acrylic) from Zeeman. I'm not going to lie about it, when I started crochet, I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this hobby in the long term (and though !), so I mainly bought my yarn at Zeeman and from local markets.
To make the design and the design less monotonous, I chose a textured stitch from the book " LE CROCHET* en 180 points " by Éditions Marabout, which I slightly changed the way it was done to suit the size of the yarn I had chosen.
I wish you a good crochet time !
- This pattern is written in US terms.
- My tablecloth is 108cm (42.5") long by 75cm (29.5") wide. I crocheted 26.5cm (10.2") for the beige and blue colors, and 13.75cm (5.1") for the other stripes. I needed : 2 balls of beige (for one side) ; 1 ball of ecru ; 1 ball of grey ; 1 ball of black ; 1 ball of off-white ; 2 balls of blue (for the second side).
- However, it is up to you to use the yarn and colours you want and to make the stripes and dimensions you like.
1- ch115 — If you need more or less length, just add or take off stitches, but be carefull, you must have an ODD number of stitches !
2- hdc2tog in the 4th and 5th st from hook, *1dc in the same st than the last one crocheted, hdc2tog on the next 2ch, repeat from * (don't do the dc on the last st !), turn
3- Ch2, hdc2tog in the next 2sts, *1dc in the 3rd "hole" (see the pictures), hdc2tog on the next 2sts, repeat from * (again, don't do the last dc), turn
Repeat row 3 alternating the stripes until you have the desired length.
Well done, you have finished !
